What the Dubai Fitness Challenge is

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, launched the challenge in 2017 to get the whole city moving for a month. The idea, branded “30×30”, is simple: 30 minutes of any activity, every day, for 30 days. You can walk, swim, cycle, take a class or join one of the big road events. Across its first nine editions the challenge counted more than 16 million participants, and 2026 is the 10th edition, with the slogan “What’s Your 30×30?”.

How to register

  1. Go to the official Dubai Fitness Challenge website and create a free account.
  2. Pick the flagship event: Dubai Ride, Dubai Run, Dubai SUP or Dubai Yoga each has its own sign-up page.
  3. Choose your route or session, and add family members to the same booking if the event allows it.
  4. Save the confirmation and QR code you receive by email; you need it to collect your bib.
  5. Collect your bib from the fitness village in Zabeel Park in the days before the event.

Registration for Dubai Ride opened first. Dubai Run sign-ups usually open a few weeks before the run, and places on the popular start gates fill early, so register as soon as it opens.

Dubai Ride 2026: Sunday 1 November

Dubai Ride turns Sheikh Zayed Road into a car-free cycling track for a morning. It is not a race: you ride at your own pace, alongside families and serious cyclists. More than 40,000 cyclists took part in 2025, over twice as many as in the first ride in 2020.

How it worked in 2025: riding started at 6:15am, start gates closed at 7:30am and everyone had to finish by 8:15am so the road could reopen. Riders entered through the start gate chosen at registration. There were water refill stations and bike mechanics on both routes, and experienced cyclists could join speed laps on Sheikh Zayed Road at a minimum of 30 km/h. Expect a similar pattern for 2026, with the exact gates and times in the rider guide.

  • Required: your bib and a certified helmet, for adults and children. Riders without both cannot take part.
  • Bikes: any bicycle with working brakes. Scooters, skateboards and rollerblades are not allowed, and electric-assisted bikes have been barred in recent editions, so check the 2026 rules before bringing one.
  • Bring: a refillable water bottle and bike lights, because you will arrive before sunrise.
  • No bike? In 2025 registered riders could use Careem Bike free of charge on the morning, collecting from stations near the start gates. Watch for the 2026 offer.
  • People of determination can request a dedicated starting area through the organisers.

Dubai Run 2026: Sunday 22 November

Dubai Run is the biggest community run in the region. It grew from 70,000 runners at its launch in 2019 to a record of more than 307,000 in 2025. Like the ride, it is free and open to all ages and abilities, and nobody is timed.

  • Bibs: collected from the fitness village in Zabeel Park in the days before the run, with your registration QR code.
  • Arrive early: with 300,000 people heading to the same few kilometres, plan to be near your start area by about 5:30am, and expect road closures around Sheikh Zayed Road from the early hours.
  • Walking is fine: many people walk the 5 km route with children and grandparents.
  • Afterwards: roads reopen at 9am, so leave a little time before driving out of the area.

Dubai SUP and Dubai Yoga

Dubai Stand Up Paddle returns to Hatta Dam on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November, from 10:30am, for its fourth edition. It is free with registration and open to every level, with coached sessions, open challenges, sunrise and sunset SUP yoga, and single and double kayaks. Combine it with a day in the mountains: our Hatta day plan and Hatta Wadi Hub guide cover the rest.

Dubai Yoga closes the challenge on Sunday 29 November. It is free, open to beginners and experienced practitioners, and under-18s must come with an adult. Recent editions have been held at Zabeel Park; the organisers confirm the 2026 venue and time closer to the date.

The free fitness villages and hubs

The villages are open daily from 31 October to 29 November. Entry is free with no registration, but courts for basketball, football, padel and volleyball must be booked in advance on the challenge website, and there are dedicated ladies’ areas. Beyond the villages, more than 23 community fitness hubs across Dubai run thousands of classes, many of them free, with the full timetable published as the challenge starts.

Ticketed events in the same month

November is also Dubai’s busiest month for sport. These events are paid or ticketed, unlike the flagship challenge events:

A 30-day plan that is not just the gym

The weather in November is ideal for getting outside, so mix the big events with free outdoor sessions:

  • Week 1: Dubai Ride on 1 November, then evening walks or classes at your nearest fitness village.
  • Week 2: paddle at Hatta for Dubai SUP, or try the Al Qudra cycle track early on a weekend morning.
  • Week 3: a hike on one of the easier UAE hiking trails, or mountain biking at Mushrif Park.
  • Week 4: Dubai Run on 22 November, then beach sessions at Kite Beach before Dubai Yoga closes the month.

Heat cue: early November mornings are still warm and humid. Train early or after sunset, drink before you feel thirsty, and do not try a 10 km run for the first time on the day if you have not been active over the summer.
