Editorial Policy: How We Research and Check Our Guides

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This page explains how the UAE Cue Editorial Team chooses, researches, checks and updates every guide on uaecue.com. It applies to all of our content, from a single park page to a year-long holiday planner. If anything on the site falls short of these standards, please tell us.

Our purpose

Our job is to help people in the UAE plan outings with accurate, current and complete information. A good guide should let you decide whether to go, know what it will cost, choose the best time, and arrive prepared. Accuracy comes before speed, and usefulness comes before length.

How we choose what to cover

  • Reader demand: we cover the places and questions people in the UAE actually search for, from park timings to holiday dates.
  • Gaps: we prioritise topics where existing information is out of date, contradictory or incomplete.
  • Seasons: seasonal and event guides are scheduled so they are ready before the season or event starts.
  • Our lane: we focus on outings and leisure. We do not write guides to visas, government services, fines, transport passes, telecoms, banking or gold prices.

No attraction, operator or advertiser decides what we cover.

Our sources

We base every guide on the most authoritative source available, in this order:

  1. The operator or venue itself: its official website, app, ticketing page, published terms and official announcements.
  2. Government and official bodies: federal and emirate authorities, municipalities, environment and culture departments, and the official media offices of each emirate.
  3. Official tourism boards for each emirate.
  4. International bodies where relevant, such as UNESCO and the Ramsar Convention for protected sites.
  5. Established news organisations, used to confirm announcements and to cross-check dates and prices.

We may use ticket platforms, booking sites and visitor reviews to spot changes or to show the range of prices on sale, but never as the only basis for a fact. When a detail comes only from such sources, the guide says so, for example “listings show” or “visitors report”.

How we check facts

  • Two sources for anything that matters. Ticket prices, opening dates, hours and holiday dates are confirmed against the official source and at least one other reliable source.
  • Everything that can change is dated. Each guide shows a “Last checked” date in its at-a-glance box, and time-sensitive facts are written as of the date we checked them.
  • Numbers are shown in context. We give prices in UAE dirhams and say whether they include 5% VAT where an operator quotes both. We say whether a price is a gate rate, an online price or a promotion, and when an offer ends.
  • Units and names are consistent. We use metric units and the most common English spelling of place names, and we give alternative spellings where readers search for them.
  • Safety information comes from the authorities. Rules on camping, barbecues, wadis, swimming and protected areas are taken from municipalities, police and environment agencies.

Conflicting information

Sources in the UAE often disagree, especially on opening hours and prices. When they do, we do not quietly pick one. We explain the difference, show the range, say which source is most reliable, and advise you to confirm with the venue. If an official page looks out of date, we say that too.

Expected and announced dates

Many dates in the UAE are announced late or depend on the moon. Public holidays that follow the Islamic calendar are shown as expected dates, with both moon-sighting scenarios where relevant, until the government announces them. Seasonal openings and events are marked “not yet announced” until the organiser confirms them, and we show last season’s details as a guide, clearly labelled. When official dates arrive, we update the guide and its update log.

Updates and update logs

  • Seasonal guides are reviewed during their season, and event guides as programmes are released.
  • Every substantial update changes the updated date at the top of the page.
  • Status pages keep a short update log at the bottom, so you can see what changed and when.
  • When a place closes, moves or changes its name, we update the guide and keep the old name in the text so readers can still find it.

Corrections

If you find something wrong or out of date, please contact us, ideally with a link to the source. We check every report against the official source. Confirmed errors are corrected promptly, the “Last checked” date is updated, and significant corrections are noted in the page’s update log. We do not delete a correction to hide a mistake.

Experience and honesty

We do not claim first-hand experiences we have not had. We do not invent quotes, reviews, ratings or visitor numbers. Where a guide relies on visitor reports, for example for crowd levels or parking, it says so. Our byline is the UAE Cue Editorial Team, and every guide is reviewed against this policy before publication.

Images

Featured covers include AI-generated editorial illustrations. These are visual representations, not documentary photographs of the actual place, and they do not verify its current appearance, operating status or access conditions. Image descriptions identify these illustrations. Other photographs, where used, must be our own, licensed, used with permission or supplied by an authorised source. We do not edit photographs in a way that misrepresents a place.

Links

We link to the official source wherever possible, so you can check details and book directly. We link to other guides on UAE Cue where they help you plan. We do not link to sites we consider unreliable, and we do not accept payment for links.

Independence, advertising and sponsorship

  • No attraction, operator or advertiser can pay to be included, reviewed, ranked or described more favourably.
  • We do not accept free tickets or hospitality in return for coverage.
  • Advertising, where shown, is clearly separate from our guides and is placed by advertising networks, not chosen by our writers.
  • If we ever publish sponsored content or use affiliate links, they will be clearly labelled on the page, and this policy will be updated.

Sensitive and cultural content

We write respectfully about religious sites, heritage and local customs. Our guides include dress codes, prayer-time closures and etiquette where they affect a visit, and we follow UAE law and media guidance in what we publish.

What we do not publish

  • Prices, hours or dates we cannot trace to a reliable source.
  • Expected dates presented as confirmed.
  • Unverified claims about safety, closures or incidents.
  • Content copied from other publishers.
  • Ticket sales or bookings: we link to official sites instead.

For the limits of the information we publish, see our disclaimer. To learn more about who we are, read about UAE Cue.
